Your mouth drives your health.
Teeth and the oral cavity play a vital role in your overall health, whether that is your facial appearance, chewing and speaking, breathing that affects your sleep, or your underlying health. Many people carry dental fear or simply were never taught why any of it matters, and that becomes the barrier to ever sitting in the chair. With small changes you can make a significant impact on your health, and it is never too late to start.
Cleanings to extractions, in one clinic.
Our team is highly trained and skilled in providing comprehensive dentistry, from cleanings to fillings to extractions and everything in between. If you are looking for specific and limited treatment, your concerns are addressed properly rather than folded into a plan you did not ask for.
Everyday care

Cleanings and hygiene
Our hygienists remove the plaque and tartar you cannot reach yourself, even with excellent brushing and flossing, which is what keeps decay, gum disease and chronic bad breath from taking hold.

Exams and early diagnosis
Every cleaning comes with a checkup so the dentist can confirm your oral health is good and catch anything that is not as early as possible. Radiographs are taken where they are needed.

Children's dentistry
Routine checkups, cleanings, fluoride treatment and fissure sealants for younger patients, at a pace that does not leave them afraid of the dentist later.
Repair and restore

Fillings, crowns and bridges
When a tooth is damaged rather than just dirty, it gets rebuilt: a filling, an inlay or onlay, a crown over what is left, or a bridge across the gap.

Root canals and extractions
An inflamed pulp turns a mild ache into a severe throb. Depending on the tooth that means a root canal with a filling, or an extraction. Wisdom teeth and oral surgery are done here too.

Implants and dentures
Where a tooth cannot be saved, implants and complete or partial dentures replace it, so chewing and speaking work the way they should again.

A family practice on Victoria Street.
Victoria Family Dental is led by Dr. Kai Wu, the principal dentist. He knows first hand what a barrier dental fear and a lack of knowledge can be: he did not have his own first cleaning until he was nearly twenty, and carries the gum recession and sensitivity to show for it. That is why the work here starts with explaining what is happening in your mouth and why it matters, and why a patient who wants specific and limited treatment gets exactly that.

Dr. Kai Wu
Principal dentistGrew up in Winnipeg and studied at the University of Manitoba, graduating in Microbiology and then as a Doctor of Dental Medicine. Practising dentistry since 2015, first in Winnipeg and now in the Waterloo region. Fluent in English and Cantonese.
The clinic team
Hygienists and front deskHygienists handle the cleaning side while the dentist does the checkup, so nothing waits for a second appointment. The front desk is the part patients keep naming in their reviews.

A few of the 106 reviews, in the patients' own words, cut back to a whole sentence where a review ran long.
Been going to Victoria Family Dental for a few years now. Staff are always very friendly and professional. Love that they have a tv to help distract during procedures. Great team here!
I recently had my wisdom tooth extracted by Dr. Kai, and I couldn't be more grateful for how smooth the entire process was. This was my first time having any kind of tooth removed, and naturally, I was a bit nervous. However, Dr. Kai and his team made me feel completely at ease from the moment I walked in.
I had a wonderful experience at Victoria Family Dental. From the moment we walked in, the reception staff was incredibly welcoming, both in person and over the phone. They made us feel comfortable and well taken care of. Dr. Kai is extremely knowledgeable and took the time to thoroughly examine my son's swollen gums and cheek.

How an appointment works.
There is no referral to chase. Here is what happens between the phone call and the treatment.
-
Book a time
Send a request below or call the clinic on (519) 579-7070. If it is an emergency, say so, because same day appointments are kept back for exactly that.
-
A proper examination
The hygienist cleans, the dentist checks, and radiographs are taken where they help. Anything found gets explained in plain words before anyone reaches for an instrument.
-
An estimate before treatment
We can send an estimate to your insurer or the CDCP first, so you know what is covered and what the portion left to you costs before treatment goes ahead.
